Automotive

REC engineers have gained industry specific knowledge by participating in projects related to two areas of specializations within this industry, namely: multimedia systems for automotive and automotive safety systems.

We have in depth knowledge in the area of state-of-the-art automotive multimedia systems, which serve a number of information and entertainment functions and applications. For example, our engineers have extensive experience in both the areas of core systems and the application layer in navigation systems, broadcasting, mobile internet, multimedia audio (MP3, MP4, WMA, etc.) video streaming (MPEG2, MPEG4, DVD, MP4, AVI, WMV, etc.). We also handle connectivity technologies like USB, Bluetooth and digital memory cards (MMC, SD) as well as wireless module connectivity (for example: UMTS/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA), which provide(s) mobile internet or voice and SMS connectivity to the vehicle.

Our engineers have broad experience in handling automotive specific DATA BUSES, like MOST or CAN and we handle all known industry specific operating systems. We also have extensive experience with process models which are specific for s/w development in the automotive industry, like SPICE. We have successfully applied the SCRUM® methodology for improving the flexibility required in the fast changing multimedia area, resulting in improved time to market.

Telecommunications

At REC we have engineers with both the understanding and experience to design, develop, test and migrate complex applications to a live operational network environment. These network environments require stringent up-times of 99.999%, while also handling millions of transactions per hour. Our engineers have successfully completed many projects for the telecommunication industry, be it for suppliers of equipment and software solutions or both fixed and mobile network operators, including GSM-Railway projects with their special demands on reliability and security. We are particularly experienced in the area of carrier class IP networks (including mobility within such networks, for example, mobile IP, proxy mobile IP) as well as traditional SS7 based networks. We have broad knowledge and experience in radio technologies and networking. Our knowhow covers radio interface technologies like UMTS, GSM, WiMax, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
